Introduction to Computer Printing Paper Specifications

  • Overview of common specifications: 241mm, 381mm, 120mm.

  • Explanation of width and its relation to the number of columns printed.

  • Naming conventions:

    • 241mm = 80-column paper.

    • 381mm = 132-column paper.

    • 120mm = 40-column paper.

In the last issue, we talked about what is the equal division of computer printing paper. In this issue, SHIRLEY YA will show you the specifications and sizes of computer printing paper.

Our common computer printing paper specifications are 241mm, 381mm, 120mm, etc. Here, 241, 381, and 120 refer to the width of our computer printing paper. The 241 series computer printing paper is also called 80-column computer printing paper. Why is it 241 and 80? This 80 means that when the paper width is 241mm, this line can print 80 words, that is, 80 columns, so there are two ways to call 241 specification computer printing paper. The 381 series computer printing paper is also called 132-column computer printing paper, and the 120 series computer printing paper is also called 40-column computer printing paper. They are the same as the above 241 series computer printing paper. 132 means that when the paper width is 381mm, 132 words can be printed in one line; 40 means that when the paper width is 120mm, 40 words can be printed in one line.

Length and Features of Computer Printing Paper

  • Standard length: 280mm (constant).

  • Tear-edge vs. non-tear-edge options.

  • Impact of removing tear-edge on paper width.

The length of computer printing paper is generally 280mm, and the length is constant. We mentioned before that computer printing paper is divided into tear-edge and non-tear-edge. Our 241, 381, and 120 include dotted lines for tear-edge. If you buy tear-edge paper and tear off both sides along the dotted lines, then the width of the paper will no longer be the original width.

In the previous article, we mentioned that the equal division of computer printing paper refers to the equal division of the length, and the width of the computer printing paper remains unchanged. In this way, the size of computer printing paper is a variable.

Equal Division of Computer Printing Paper

  • Equal division refers to dividing the length while keeping the width unchanged.
